I am an educator passionate about making museums relevant to the modern world. At four different museums over the past decade, I've developed creative approaches to working with adults, families, schools, teachers, and general audiences. I'm also a big supporter of civic education.

Center for the Constitution at James Madison's Montpelier

Education Director

I develop, deliver, and manage professional development programming for teachers focused on modern Constitutional issues. I've worked hard to cultivate partnerships with individual schools, school districts, museums, nonprofit organizations, and civic education organizations to develop unique collaborations and expand program audiences.

Virginia Civics Education, Inc.

Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director

This new non-profit is a passion project. I offer professional development training to civics and government teachers in Virginia based on the acclaimed "We the People: the Citizen and the Constitution" curriculum. I also direct "We the People" competitions for middle and high school students. I draw inspiration from the incredibly passionate teachers and students!

National Baseball Hall of Fame

School Programs Manager

I managed all on-site field trips and trained a staff of 20 part-time museum teachers. I also wrote downloadable lesson plans, and presented videoconferences to students all over the country using baseball as an engaging entry point to subjects from math and science to history and art.

Cooperstown Graduate Program

Master of Arts, Museum Studies

After figuring out that I wanted to work in the museum field, I chose to attend CGP. I took classes in Education, Administration, Collections Care and Management, Material Culture, and Exhibit Design. I got tons of hands-on experience, including writing and designing an exhibit for Discover Portsmouth in New Hampshire. In my thesis, I analyzed toys of the Space Race era. Fun!

Frederick Country Day Montessori School

Assistant Teacher

Here I learned to engage small children in a variety of non-traditional education methods. I saw firsthand that there are no limits to what children can learn if given the right support.

I love examining the intersection of history and culture, and Gettysburg College was the perfect place for me to hone my skills as a historian and as a writer.
