As Shop Manager I planned, organized, supervised, and evaluated all Equipment/Truck Repair and maintenance tasks performed by personnel working on the assigned shift. The responsibilities involved establishing priorities, controlling workflow and quality, and evaluating personnel and equipment performance. Also I was responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating work in our preventive maintenance program, emission testing and annual inspections programs.
*Conducted staff training and development; maintained appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources; hired, trained and retained highly qualified staff and performed mechanics time approval.
*Monitored and evaluated employee performance and work quality to ensure optimal results.
*Established and supported a work environment of continuous improvement which encompassed performance, productivity, cost control.
*Operated shop and personnel within approved budget; monitored and adjusted variables as needed to maintain profitability (production, staffing, and inventory).
*Managed and assisted and resolved difficult field staff complaints promptly and professionally.
*Modeled and enforced company policies and developed a climate of respect and trust.
*Responsible for quality, production and safety standards and maintained shop housekeeping standards.
