Child Protection Social Worker - Intake and Investigations Practicum Position (350 hours)

350 hour BSW Practicum investigating child protection and child welfare concerns and working closely with the pertinent legislation (CFCSA, 1996) in a small region with a substantially high rate of domestic violence cases. This front-line intake and investigations social work position involves working with a high volume of incidents whilst working directly with families and thoroughly completing complex assessments, documentation, and report writing to determine the need for protecting children from unsafe--abusive and/or neglectful--home environments or people.
I consistently utilize my strongly developed skills in interpersonal communication, anti-oppressive practice, emotional intelligence, crisis intervention, organization, and time management independently as I am interviewing adults, youth and children and while engaging in a team workplace environment with my colleagues.

This youth support work position involves working with very high-risk youth in care from a trauma-informed and strengths-based perspective. Some of my duties include the following: Crisis Intervention, daily Planning and Facilitation of recreational and therapeutic programming, Behaviour Intervention, Positive Behavioural Support, Group Home living, Service Planning, Computer, Task Management & Organization skills, Communication skills, Team and Independent environment.

Since 2008 has provided emotional support, resource referral and crisis and suicide intervention to young people via live chatting, forum posting and E-counseling.
