Principal Engineer; PSE Education and Project Management Team Lead

Responsible for the oversight and coordination of Schneider's national Power Services Engineering team's training and education. This includes seeing to the development of courses, existing and new, covering the full breadth of the PSE expertise. Working with a team of highly technical experts, we see to the implementation of courses such as Relay Operations, ETAP Training, Power Systems Design and Sales.

I am currently responsible to be Schneider's National Design Services Team (DST) Business and Personnel Development Lead. In this role, I manage personnel dedicated to the business development, sales acquisition, project management and engineering of efforts within Schneider's DST Team.

This group develops and implements tools aimed at creating efficient business practices that allow for smooth transitions between power engineering (substations, hospitals, manufacturing) business development,expert technical engineering and efficient project management practices.

I also participate in the development and implementation of new business activities and structures aimed at achieving growth opportunities. These include sales forecast tools, personnel resource forecast tools, and engineering standards. International leadership includes the project management oversight of Arc Flash analysis done for Chrysler Corporation in Canada, the US and Mexico.

Bauerkemper Engineering is partnering with Pearson Publications to develop course work materials for ITT's national education platform. These collaborations bring my technical knowledge and creative writing skills together. "Power Systems", "AC/DC Theory" and "Solid State Devices" will be utilized in ITT Techs throughout the US as part of their BSEE curriculum. I am responsible for syllabus creation, specifying course content, writing tests, quizzes, laboratory assignments and web based course scripting.

Course Objectives
1. Analyze the overall function of a typical residential and commercial electrical power distribution system.
2. Use phasor representations and complex algebra techniques to calculate electrical quantities and loads.
3. Analyze the use of various types of devices, such as wiring and overcurrent protection devices, used in typical residential and commercial electrical power distribution systems.
4. Design a branch circuit using various devices and branch circuit apparatus to safely provide and control the delivery of electrical power for a given occupancy.
5. Discuss the characteristics of various conduit and raceway systems and grounding techniques.
6. Analyze the role of service entrance apparatus needed to safely provide and control the delivery of electrical power.
7. Examine the operations of motors, transformers, and capacitors in an electrical power distribution system.
8. Calculate voltage drops and short-circuit currents in a power system.
9. Determine various techniques used to protect equipment in the power distribution system in case of a short circuit or any other fault.
10. Describe the history of U.S. electricity, the essential components of the power grid, and the role of FERC in purchased power.
