Corporation for National and Community Service

Deputy Regional Director for Programming-AmeriCorps/NCCC-Southwest

Lead, direct operations for programming and partnerships for the Southwest region of AmeriCorps/NCCC; Colorado, Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri. Builds cohesive teams that have since resulted in high performing, productive and results oriented employees; NCCC HQ since recognized Southwest region for tripling its demand for project resources in 2015 as well as improved project results from three past years.

Manage diverse workforces and apply merit principles to develop, motivate and select and coach staff including senior program managers, administrative and training staff. Coach staff to plan strategically, manage for results, take initiative, and provide developmental opportunities.

Build and strengthen relationships with eight regional CNCS State Offices and State Commissions to collectively assess state priorities; design programs and assign NCCC resources to respond to those needs. Conducts gap analysis to determine opportunities for direct service and capacity building projects and works collaboratively with agency leads on resource allocation in the region. Resulted in better programming, partnerships and strengthened communities.

Led the design, implementation and evaluation of 21 week competency-based training for up to 450 young professionals serving in AmeriCorps NCCC and FEMA Corps. Developed and led task force to do a ‘re-work’ of training learning objectives and session planning so corps members would be more confident and prepared to serve on future projects. Results indicated significant cost savings for the agency as well as improved training and stronger evaluation results over a 3-year period which made an impact nationally as a new practice for the agency.
