Cyndi Chen

Product Marketing Manager

New York, NY

Not so much a "Growth Hacker" as a "Growth Accountant Mad Scientist"--using my academic research background to dissect business problems, implement conversion experiments, analyze data, and iterate. Interests: human narratives, the brain, technology, culture, and art. Oliver Sacks is my hero.

B2C Growth

I love that my job is a science: I make hypotheses, I design procedures to test those hypotheses, and then I go to town on the data. My job is to learn about people, to investigate, to make little discoveries, and to accept being wrong most of the time. Perfect fit for a nerd like me.

Director Of User Experience

My role in CollaborativeHealth was to create a simple, delightful, and effective mobile and web experience for our users, many of whom have had trouble trying to change their habits and lead a healthier life.

“I don’t want other people to decide who I am. I want to decide that for myself.” —Emma Watson

Product Marketing Manager

Working on B2C product and marketing initiatives.

Yale University

Alumni Fund Liaison

Alumni Fund Liaison: raised over $100,000 in the 2011-2012 year (top-ranked student fundraiser). Persuaded alumni of Yale University (Yale College as well as grad and professional schools) to donate to their respective alumni funds; convinced non-donors to participate in funds and donors to upgrade.

Brand Management Intern

Consulted international clients in brand strategy, particularly in the food and beverage industry; helped develop the brand identity for a new dog snack company in Peru.

International Festival of Arts & Ideas

Marketing Intern

Coordinated radio interviews with festival artists and station managers, conducted an economic impact survey, created press books for each artist, as well as one for sponsors, supervised volunteers (4-8 per event for about 15 events), built a post-festival online survey for patrons, worked on NEA grant application, and implemented an office recycling program.

Yale University

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Cognitive Science

Senior thesis titled "You don't think I like you on purpose? Intentionality in psych verbs." Explored the cognitive links between how we perceive linguistic agents and how we perceive intentions. I'll gladly talk anyone's ear off about this.
