•Ensure all documents dealing with assigned train was correct and was understood by any members of the crew.
•Made sure entire crew was up to date on rule changes and new rules that were issued and they had them in their possession.
•Communicate with yard masters and road dispatchers for proper instructions on when and were to move trains.
•Couple and uncouple cars, setting out and picking up cars according to work order of the train and ensuring all cars picked up are placed in train accordingly to rules.
•Performed brake test for cars that were being picked up and not using air to maintain pressure. Set brakes on proper amount of cars needed and performed brake test when setting cars out to ensure they would not move after being cut away from motors.
• Understand and call all signals dealing with movement of assigned train along with making sure trains engineer understands signal and is complying with it.
•Complete time slips for both engineer and conductor making sure both receive everything they are entitled to.
•Work on call and stay available 24 hours a day. Work all weather conditions, and hours.
