"When the Last Tree Is Cut Down, the Last Fish Eaten, and the Last Stream Poisoned, You Will Realize That You Cannot Eat Money" - these words ring truer today than ever before. As an ecologist I cannot stress this saying enough. One of my goals is to help educate the public about our planet in hopes that it raises awa...

Stevenson University

BS, Biology/Chemistry

I attended an honors college where I completed my undergrad in 3 years with a dual major. I began as a pre-med major but after taking an ecology class I became enamored with the natural world. Throughout college I worked a part time job at the University of Maryland where I focused on microbial influenced bio-remediation of PolyChlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs).

University of Colorado Boulder

MS, Microbial Ecology

I was accepted into the graduate program at the University of Colorado, Boulder where I studied the effects of climate change on microbial communities found in high elevation snow packs. I immersed myself in high elevation ecology, climate change and microbial community analysis. By focusing on the changes in nutrient cycling in combination with community dynamics, I learned a myriad of molecular, critical thinking and problem solving skills. I brought in over $10,000 in private grants, was an invited speaker at the American Society of Microbiology conference, was invited to meet and intern with a world renown mycologist, taught microbiology to undergraduate students, presented 4 manuscripts for publication and maintained a 3.5 GPA.
