Pathology Technician

 Performs gross necropsy procedures, including room set-up/cleaning, prosection, device removal as appropriate, specimen photography, data recording, collection and perfusion of organs and tissues, X-ray imaging, and shipment of tissues to sponsors or subcontractors.
 Reviews draft protocols and data collection sheets for accuracy and completeness.
 Monitors and record daily logs for pathology equipment, including, but not limited to temperature logs for ovens and water baths as necessary.
 Conducts all procedures and documentation in accordance with applicable GLP regulstions per FDA requirements, Maintains and excutes all Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs for the Pathology department and ensure that all applicable logbooks are current and correct.
 Demonstrates appropriate use of rountine laboratory equipment, including but not limited to scale(s), centrifuge(s), microscopes, vortex, magnectic stir/warming plate, pipets, biosafety cabinet, chemical fume hood, pressure perfusion tank, vacuum trap for aspiration, freezer, liquid nitrogen dewar, microprocessor oven, flammables cabinet, graduated cylinders, and syringes/ needles.
 Performs simple mathematical calculations required for reagent preparation and tissue handling.
 Maintains a safe and healthy work environment that complies with all safety policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
 Maintains a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with all internal personnel, sponsors, and subcontractors.
 Ability to foster and collabroate in a team environment.
 Assists clinical lab with sample collection and processing of samples on Olympus AU400 Chemistry Analyzer and ADVIA 120 Hematology Analyzer.
 Assists Quality Assurance unit as a Back-up Archivist.with the archiving of Study specific materials and Non-study specific forms,as well as accurately providing Quality Control (QC) assessments for various studies in the reporting phase.
 Authored various SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for the Pathology Department
 Performs all other related duties assigned.
