Lead student component of College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) First-Year Learning Community, taught three weekly classes of 25 first-year students (1-unit course), held office hours for student visits, guided students toward academic and extra-curricular activities in pursuit of their career goals and passions, served as support system for students, assessed and assigned grades.
Managed budget and staff of students and employees, responsible for final editorial and content decisions, instituted new cloud-based communication and document sharing system to maximize efficiency and productivity, redesigned newspaper to modernize and streamline information, developed and launched new HighlanderNews.org website and Channel H video network, awarded 5th best college newspaper website in nation by Associated Collegiate Press and College Media Association, conducted high-profile interviews with California Governor Jerry Brown, UC President Mark Yudof, former UCR Chancellor/current CSU Chancellor Timothy White, started Highlander Audit series of investigative reports on campus departments.
Served as policy researcher/analyst for Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge, worked on health, environment, education, and development issues, wrote and edited city council reports, organized Walk Riverside citywide health initiative and walking competition, designed street sign for “Riverside’s Fittest Neighborhood,” represented Office of the Mayor at community events, presented at City Council Meetings.
Managed staff of 25 writers, responsible for A&E section payroll, assigned stories and edited content, wrote weekly music column “Radar Jamming,” established new guidelines for critical pieces and reviews, conducted interviews with various members of entertainment industry (music, TV, film, comedy).
