Bristol County Sheriff's Office
Director of Education
February 2010 — September 2012
As Principal of the inmate education program, I directed a highly successful program in which adult learners gain an important series of tools useful upon their return to society. I developed a series of programs and approaches that resulted in a 500% increase in the number of GED's earned annually, raised the level of educational attainment and mentored young men and women towards a more hopeful and safe future.
My formal roles included budget development and oversight, personnel decisions and evaluation, curriculum and instructional leadership and program design. Some of my budgetary decisions increased the program capacity to serve while others provided instructional resources aligned with current educational and career practice. Other program decisions resulted in collaborations with local and regional school agencies each serving to make the whole greater than the sum of fiscal parts.
