The mission of The Next Big Thing (TNBT) is to identify and empower young entrepreneurs, giving them the resources, education, and network they need to succeed. The programs provided by TNBT prepare young Canadians with solid technical foundations and the ability to understand and embrace innovation as an integral aspect of entrepreneurship, giving young individuals the 21st Century skill set they need to succeed in the Canadian and global economies. TNBT provides its programs free of charge and are fully inclusive: TNBT encourages and champions the participation of female youth in entrepreneurship, and the full inclusion of Canada’s multicultural population. Moreover, TNBT has no requisites educational or academic, creating barrier free access to its programming. Creating unique learning opportunities through close relationships with business leaders across the country.

As Director of Development, the role is focused on maintaining and growing individual and corporate giving and sponsorship. The role's main focus is creating and delivering a strategic 3-year fundraising plan to assure the continued success of the organisation and its programming. Key aspects of the role are federal and provincial partnership development, comprehensive planning for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects working toward defined goals.

The Portfolio Prize is a Vancouver-based Foundation that aims to encourage the development of young artists through early support and mentor-ship. The 2015 Portfolio Prize funds are directed toward development of emerging artists.

The role focuses on the financial and administrative management of the Foundation as well as the governance and disbursement of the annual Portfolio Prize.
