Served as Contract Specialist in the Formal Contracts Division within the US Coast Guard’s (USCG) Acquisition Directorate. My duties included determining all Pre and Post award contract actions are in compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Homeland Security Acquisition Manual (HSAM) and Coast Guard Acquisition Principles (CGAP) regulations and procedures. Additionally, I used sound business judgment to select the proper evaluation criteria for use in solicitations that reflects understanding of the technical requirements; devised an acquisition method to procure the desired product/service.

As Contract Specialist, I performed cradle to grave contract actions that included assessing cost estimates, monitoring procurement action lead times (PALTS) to ensure milestones are met and contract actions remain on track; Additionally, performed market research to assist with determining source selection.

I provided program customers with excellent customer achieving this through engaging the customer early in the planning process and providing advice and assistance on procurement objective strategies. I proactively provided solutions to program customer’s problems, and assisted in the preparation of statements of work and performance work statements.

By integrating face-to-face meetings with program points of contact I provided an opportunity to effectively communicate with my customers to better understand their requirements in order to meet the needs of the mission. In practicing good customer service, I sought to maintain contact with program customers in order to better understand and anticipate their procurement needs.
