Carissa Trujillo

Carissa Trujillo

General Clerk

unemployed at this time

I am a dedicated general clerk with a willingness to learn new things with more than nine years of customer service. Although, I have only worked in two locations, I have learned an invaluable amount that I feel can be expanded and shared to benefit any position.

Making Work Easy

When hired at Down To Earth, there was no collective collection of produce codes available for the cashiers. Joining forces with the produce manager and using my old code book from Food 4 Less, I created a Procedures and Plu Code book, making enough copies for everyone.

I am the first one in my generation, of family, to get a degree in college.

"It takes courage to live, to follow your dreams, to love someone and to face each day." -Lynsay Sands, from the Argeneau Series

Down to Earth, HI

With this position I learned the true value of customer service is what has customers returning, not just for the items they got, but how they were treated, helped and if the help they received was friendly, actually helpful and able to recommend them other alternatives that they may like or similar to what they already have in their cart.

Food 4 Less, CA

General Clerk (Customer 1st Clerk, Cashier, Person In Charge, Back-Up Bookkeeper, Asst. Customer 1st Clerk Manager)

I learned about my passion for communication by being able to explain the tasks that need to be done, about listening to understand then respond, not only with customers but with coworkers and in addition; that it is with real communication that there is positive feedback that can create change, for improvement in all the positions and responsibilities I held with this company.

Grossmont Community College

Associates, Communication

I honestly began school as an English major with an emphasis in creative writing. I love reading and writing but when I came across communication, a cord was struck and a switch was made. Being able to communicate my feelings or how a task can be completed has enriched my life and my experience in my job field.

Helix Charter High School

Diploma, English

Being a big fan of English, I excelled in those type of classes. I was part of The Highlander Fling, my school news paper, junior and senior year. I was selected to join C4Me (Collge 4 Me) my junior year, part of the first group of 50 minority female students to go on a 4 day 13 colleges, tour trip. I was also selected in my junior year, to join SEPA (Science Education Partnership Award) with 3 other students, where we got to work on clinical trials, understanding the procedures of science and data collecting and working as interns for an ongoing clinical trial. I created a book club in my senior year as a portion of senior project and read in all my free time.
