Undergraduate Advising: overall academic advising of undergraduate students in the History Department. Advises students; Identifies academic problems; Establishes and maintains student records (paper and/or electronic); Organizes and leads first-year students and transfer summer orientation; Reviews incoming student information including: transcripts, holds, etc. Uses Banner system for entry and editing of Course Management Reports, Teaching Load Reports, course scheduling, capacity adjustments, adding/canceling classes; catalog update, course substitutions, and updates departmental check sheets; I also assist with recruiting events for undergraduate students.
Responsible for all Graduation Clearance of all Undergraduate and Graduate students (Fall, Spring, and Summer). Identifies problems with graduation status reports and using DARS reports. Works with the Academic Associate Dean and Registrar's Office to resolve problems; procession substitutions; waivers; Assists with planning and working graduation.
Assisting with public relations for the History Department: Creating Graduation programs, departmental forms and procedures; Creating Advising Plan of undergraduate students; Creating faculty director, orientation packets for incoming first-year students, transfer students, and graduate students; Create departmental announcements, news, and other promotions.
Graduate Coordinator of History Department MA Graduate Program: Maintains all files for M.A. students (retiring, graduate, and inactive). Create Graduate Assistantships contracts; Entering of Plan of Study electronically; Assist with orientation and recruiting events.
Member of NACADA National Academic Advising Association; Member of NASFA: Association of International Educators; Committee Chair of the CLAHS Staff Association Staff Development Committee and a committee member of the CLAHS Staff Association Special Projects Committee.
