Here are a few things I have learned about myself. I am a detail person! I enjoy edits and final touches. Don't think that means I am a boring, overly organized person. Ok, I am overly organized, but not boring! Though I love developing an efficient process and maintaining a perfectly sectioned drawer, I'm really quit...

Graduate & Adult Admissions Counselor

This was a brand new position. In this position my main goal is to assist students in getting into their graduate program. I work with all graduate and adult programs, but I am mainly responsible for the admissions process for 4 specific programs. On the graduate side, I work closely with the MBA program. For the online adult bachelors programs I work with General Education/AA, Healthcare Management, and Organizational Psychology. I have done a little recruiting, but most of my time is spent helping students turn in all required documents, reviewing files, doing transcript evaluations and conducting interviews. This position has given me a great amount of experience working with international students.

I run a student call center for the Graduate and Adult Admissions Office. I interviewed and hired 3 student tele-counselors who report to me. Lucky for me, they are great students and employees! In my position with them I am responsible for providing call lists and scripts, daily tasks, time sheet approvals, and making the call center fun! I try my best to make even this position an opportunity for my student employees to experience personal and professional development.

This position has also allowed me to gain experience as a Social Media Manager for my programs. I currently manage social media outlets such as Hootsuite, Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin. Each of these social media outlets has drastically increased in followers and participants.

I enjoy the inner-workings of behavior, of what makes people who they are. I like to explore the possible answers to the question "why?". I've always had a natural ability to understand and relate to others. Getting a degree in psychology was putting the official stamp on something I've been doing most of my life: theorizing on human behavior.

I only worked briefly as a therapist because I quickly began asking the question "Where else can apply this knowledge?" My focus shifted toward applying psychology to education, teamwork, fitness, managing, and marketing. I will continue to apply it wherever I go. Every field needs a "people person"!

P.S. I organized 1,400 students into the letters for this picture!
