Function as a paramedic in maximum security male penal institution while maintaining a safe and secure environment. Responsibilities included completing beginning of shift paperwork, inventory of controlled substances, narcotics, medications, and oxygen. I was a shift team lead when necessary while operating a day time clinic. Clinic responsibilities include seeing offenders with routine conditions including fractures, boils, and colds. Conferring with on site or on call physicians for medical control orders outside of established protocols. Running medical and traumatic emergencies as necessary. Providing advanced life support care including cardiac defribillation, iv line insertions, iv drug and fluid administration, EKG interpretation, 12-lead EKG interpretation, airway control, intubation, and other advanced and basic life support skills. Other responsibilities include charting patient information and filing patient charts in the appropriate place. Performing ambulance inventory and restocking as necessary. Completing all daily paperwork prior to shift end. Assist in the security of the institution and maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.
