Project management of the transition of the High Needs Students (HNS) budget from the Education Funding Authority (EFA) to Southwark Council. HNS are young people with a statement of special educational needs that are moving into post-16 education and training.

Co-ordinate, lead and influence a collaboration of colleagues in the authority working to implement the new arrangements including data, legal, 14-19 and finance teams.

Negotiate with local institutions to commission student placements and agree costs, manage provider relationships with over 35 institutions across London, facilitate development of Southwark Council's strategy in this area, monitor national post-16 SEN policy and identify and apply good practice.

Additional responsibilities as Bellenden Old School Centre Manager. Tasks include:
- Supervison of Premises Officer.
- Liaison with leaseholders.
- Management of external suppliers confirming that service level agreements are maintained.
- Monitoring compliance with the council’s health and safety policy.
- Processing invoices relating to the site.
- Oversight of room bookings for meetings and events.

Main achievement
- Wrote a bid for additional funding from the EFA to support High Needs Students coordinating activity and input with colleagues from finance and SEN. Secured an £500K uplift to the council's funding allocation.

Institute of Ideas Education Forum

The Institute of Ideas' mission is to expand the boundaries of public debate by organising conferences, discussions and salons, and publishing written conversations and exchanges. The Education Forum is a space for open debate and discussion between teachers and education professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives. As well as hosting monthly discussions in London, and in the regions forum members also write and comment on papers and articles and debate and contribute to national education policy.

Managing Director

Founded Sister Circle London a network for Black women with the ability and desire to take on a leadership role. The group grew to over 300 members predominately in junior and middle management roles working in private, voluntary and government organisations.

Organised over 20 career development workshops and seminars. Wide range of topics covered including: credibility at work, how to develop a five year career plan, building an authentic leadership style, succeeding with headhunters and enhancing networking and political skills.

Initiated a partnership with organisational psychologists to develop the programme of events with reference to current research and evidence based practice.

Persuaded senior directors from FTSE 100 companies to address the group on their leadership lessons.

Negotiated and leveraged support from Shell, Ernst and Young, Improvement and Development Agency and BT to host joint events.

Developed the company's corporate identity including creation of the logo and branding, drafted marketing material, commissioned a website and implemented social media campaigns.

Organised Sister Circle London's launch event at the House of Commons sponsored by Dawn Butler MP working with a PR agency to secure online media coverage from various outlets.

Established Sister Circle London as a social enterprise.

Main achievement
- Collaborated with the Fawcett Society to deliver a research project and associated policy symposium 'Still I Rise: Black Women Getting to the Top'.

Learning and Skills Council, London Central

Partnership Manager

Managed adult education and skills partnerships and contracts up to the value of £3 million.

Developed service specifications defining clear deliverables, assessed tenders, lead on contract negotiations, managed the contract award process, conducted regular performance reviews, supported providers during pre and post Ofsted inspection and issued advice on LSC funding methodology.

Represented the organisation at Local Strategic Partnerships, Connexions Local Management Committees and regeneration partnerships with the aim of aligning strategic goals and leveraging additional support for LSC providers.

Main achievement
- For two years acted as the local office staff learning and development champion. Identified and reported on training needs, wrote business cases for delivery of specific courses and contributed to the development of the regional learning and development strategy.

Policy Analyst

Policy lead for the London East office reporting primarily on 14-19 national and sub regional developments. Regularly updated colleagues on government policy documents, new legislation and local authority position papers working to ensure that the organisation’s priorities joined up with our partners.

Led on the higher education brief strengthening relationships with local universities and implementing the Partnerships for Progression initiative.

Coordinated regional input to the Greater London Authority's London Plan consultation.

Supported the strategic planning process, managed consultation events and wrote internal and external briefing documents.

Main achievement
- Project managed a review of local Apprenticeship provision. Developed the project plan, administered the project budget, commissioned and oversaw consultants who conducted the research work, established and serviced the steering group, managed relationships with key external stakeholders and wrote up the project recommendations.
