Selected to join Japan’s largest cultural exchange program (JET), run by 3 Japanese government ministries. Teach and motivate Japanese kindergarten, elementary, and junior high school students to speak, read, write, and listen to English. Collaborate and effectively communicate with Japanese teachers to create lesson plans for individual classes. Participate in after-school activities and school events to bond with students and teachers in an informal setting.

Coordinated cross-cultural exchange activities for undergraduate students from Japan and Canada. Honorable guests at the consortium included a member of the Japanese royal family and Canadian ambassadors. The Japan-Canada Academic Consortium aims to promote the exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and teachers, and to encourage a movement of ideas and knowledge between the two countries.

Crane House-STARTALK National Language Program

Chinese Language Teaching Assistant

Taught a three-week intensive summer program that immerses American middle and high school students in the Chinese language and culture, allowing them to become bilingual and marketable in our international market. Received training from a world language specialist for local public schools and a distinguished Chinese college professor.

STARTALK is a component program of the National Security Language Initiative (NSLI) that seeks to expand and improve the teaching and learning of strategically important world languages that are not now widely taught in the US. Crane House is premier Asian cultural center in mid-America. The Asian institute reaches over 50,000 schoolchildren and adults throughout the Kentucky Commonwealth and Southern Indiana through educational programs, business programs, lectures, exhibitions, performances and organizational partnerships.
