After School Matters

I lead a group of teens in writing seminars. At the end of each week, I held editing sessions with them and helped them push their stories further through engaging discussions. At the end of the summer program, the writers would read their work to the public at the Chicago Cultural Center. (I was also intern for the fall program of 2012.)

Palermo Bakery

Receptionist and Packer

An hour before opening, I would come in every morning to make phone calls to buyers. I'd speak to the department managers to take in their orders and answer any questions they may have about the products or shipment. After orders were placed, I'd create invoices for each order on Quickbooks. For the rest of the day, I would assist other packers in wrapping and organizing the orders to prepare them for shipment. At the end of the day, I'd take inventory and double check that each order sheet had its corresponding invoice.

St. Aloysius Church

I attended calls from parishioners and other parishes. The calls involved making appointments, calendaring events, and setting up meetings. In person tasks included assisting parishioners with paperwork for baptisms, communion, confirmation, quinceaneras, weddings, funerals, and mass intentions. Other tasks included editing the parishioners' personal information, submitting church donations, and editing the year-round calendar. These tasks were performed on Microsoft Access. In addition to that, I prepared the coffee maker twice a day, took out the garbage, washed dishes and prepared certificates for the ceremonies mentioned.
