As a prep chef, my job involves a tremendous amount of training, dedication, and attention to detail. My position is extremely diverse, consistent of many different tasks which include, but are not limited to, preparing the soups and sauces for the day, prepping an allotted amount of food in accordance to the daily projections predicted, ensuring safe temperatures for all food items, and keeping a clean, organized and sanitary environment at all times. In addition, a prep cook must be very flexible and calm in every situation, efficiently able to work alongside and assist fellow team members, willing to put in long hours, and able keep a positive, upbeat attitude in order to help the team succeed as a whole. The attention to detail involved in this position is also extremely important; the consistent measurements and attention to recipes are a must, the correct labeling and dating of leftover food items is remarkably necessary in order to prevent food borne illnesses, and keeping up with inventory to ensure all ingredients are on hand for every shift is critical. I also ensure everything is done according to Olive Garden standards and assist in setting up a strong foundation for a successfully run business in order to provide the best guest experience possible.
