Mixed Blood Theatre Company

Managing Director

I started my tenure at Mixed Blood in September 2011, as Director of Radical Hospitality. I was hired to oversee the launch of MBT's revolutionary audience access model. Here's some more info on Radical Hospitality and Mixed Blood's vision:

In my current role as part of the executive leadership team at Mixed Blood, I oversee and guide outreach and community placemaking, development, communications, marketing, strategic planning, Board relations, human resources and finances. In addition, I am director of the organization's branding efforts; this involves both oversight of design and visual strategy, and the creation of supportive programming for Mixed Blood's season and artistic efforts.

Mixed Blood's company obsession with making live theatre and the arts accessible to all makes it an organization for which I'm proud to work, and grateful to serve as ambassador.

Mixed Blood Theatre Company

Project Manager, Major Gifts Campaign

In addition to my role as Managing Director at Mixed Blood, I am overseeing fundraising and strategy for a $2.4 million capital and construction effort to bolster the organization with the infrastructure, facilities, and resources required to accomplish its short and long-term strategic priorities. To date, the organization is nearing completion of a $1.1 million renovation of its theater and public spaces for greater community access. Additional funds are being secured to establish a cash reserve and risk capital fund, to ensure that sustainability and succession plans are securely in place, and to support the company's continued artistic excellence.

William Inge Center for the Arts

Associate Artistic Director

In 2010, I was the recipient of a Theatre Communications Group Future Leaders Fellowship to further my research and experience in community-based arts; I pursued the Fellowship as Associate Artistic Director at the William Inge Center for the Arts in Independence, Kansas, a rural community just north of the Oklahoma border and Cherokee Nation. While there, I worked as Project Manager on a partnership with Cornerstone Theatre (Los Angeles) and the local 547 Arts Center to produce The Greensburg Project, a performance piece co-created with professional theatre artists and the community of Greensburg. The project gave residents a forum, via live theatre, to tell stories of loss, strength, joy and rehabilitation following a tornado that destroyed their town, and allowed for documentation of the strategic planning process that led to an ecologically-rooted community renovation.

In addition, I helped create and produce the nationally-recognized William Inge Theatre Festival, as well as the company's year-round season of new work and developmental workshops.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts

Coordinator of Planning & Development

In my time at Lincoln Center, I served as a member of both the Strategy and Major Gifts teams, primarily managing the Young Patrons of Lincoln Center (YPLC), the organization’s membership program for patrons in their 20s-40s. Programming, fundraising, marketing strategy, social networking, event planning and outreach were my focus; in my time at Lincoln Center, YPLC increased its membership by 150%.

The Program in Arts Administration at CU changed the course of my professional life. I was recently interviewed by Hannah Fenlon, a student in the Program, for the Alumni blog, and it sums up my experiences there:

I'm now a member of the inaugural Alumni Council for the Program, and I'm part of the recruitment committee; if you're in the Midwest and interested in learning more about ARAD at Columbia, I'd love to talk!
