Birck Nanotechnology Center

Intern

Under the guidance of Professor McNally, I designed an experiment using an atomic force microscope to investigate the surfaces of different types of solar cells.

Through this internship I gained experience developing an idea through literary research, collaborating with a research group of my peers, setting and meeting self-imposed deadlines, all of which culminated in the publication of my first paper.

P.R.I.M.E. Lab

Student Operator

An operator's main responsibilities included monitoring the data collected by the accelerator's sensors, exchanging the samples between experiments and fielding calls to the lab. Beyond these tasks, I trained and scheduled other students and led tours of the lab to groups ranging anywhere from second graders to professors at the university.

I obtained my qualification to handle hydrofluoric acid for the initial processing of rock samples. Working with an employee of the lab, we utilized the building's overhead crane to set up a rock crushing lab for the department.
