Louisiana State University in Shreveport- CE Department
Instructor, Internet Research
July 2013 — Present
Success as a researcher in your ability to collect and maintain an organized library of resources and the ability to begin a search with answerable questions and the knowledge to quickly consider which resources should be accessed and in what order for maximum effectiveness. The success of a researcher in actually finding information comes from clear communication with the team requesting the information, critical and creative thinking skills of the researcher, and available resources combined with the innate ability to quickly deduce relationships between seemingly unknown related pieces of information. Sometimes this yields the sought after information and sometimes it doesn't. Every search is unique as is ever researcher.
As one of the instructors at LSUS-CE department I guide participants through strategies of online research, key terms, resource guides, directories, tools, and introduction to Boolean Logic, Phrase and Field searching to develop skills to effectively and economically access specific information from the Web.
