Pet Training Instructor

Everyday I meet people that have recently found their best friend. Sometimes it's a new pet parent's first puppy; sometimes it's an experienced dog lovers adopted mix. I help them communicate, bond, and train their new pet to become a family member. Through classes and private sessions, I teach about potty training, impulse control, and therapy work.

My companion animal behavior course at UNL gave me a love for ethology. After college I knew I wanted to work with animals but wasn't sure where or how. I saw the Pet Training Instructor position at Petsmart and applied. Once I began i realized Petsmart's curriculum was not based on anecdotes or training traditions but on ethology. I was hooked.



Pet Training Instructor

-Teach pet training group classes and one on one sessions to pet parents and dogs.
-Evaluate Canine Good Citizen exams as directed by AKC and Petsmart.
- Schedule classes that are convenient for organization and customers. Post schedule in appropriate areas to encourage enrollment.
- Increase conversions of training enrollment by offering solutions to pet parents and building relationships through customer service.
- Maintain relationships with customers and maintain client contact records.
