Alexis Cecil

PR Support Services Team Lead

Washington D.C. Metro Area

I am very passionate in helping others build relationships with their publics & audiences through social media and other new media platforms. When I'm not helping others craft the perfect 140 character tweet, you can catch me at a local coffee shop soaking up a new book or sketching my surroundings.

"Don't just prepare. Begin. Our enemy is not lack of preparation. The enemy is resistance, our chattering brain producing excuses. Start before you are ready." - Steven Pressfield

The Power Conference

Social Media and Public Relations Coordinator

Being offered a position to direct the social media and PR for The Power Conference -- women's business conference -- has been a tremendous turning point in my career. I've had the opportunity to showcase my ability to increase visibility and awareness of the large event.

Among the thousands of women I meet each year at the conference, in 2014 I was fortunate enough to meet Katy Kay, lead anchor of BBC World News.

The University of Maryland, College Park

Bachelor of Arts, Communication, Public Relations

During my four years at The University of Maryland, I discovered a lot of what I wanted out of life and a lot of what I didn't want out of life. After countless classes I finally realized what I loved doing -- creative writing and building relationships. I've always had a passion for art and fashion and wanted to find a major that could help me enter these industries. I graduated with the communication school with a focus in public relations. It has been the best decision I have made in my life so far! I am able to incorporate everything I love with this major.

Nissa Jewelry

Marketing and Public Relations Intern

My internship with Nissa Jewelry was by far my favorite internship of all time. I had many roles throughout my time at the company from writing for the company blog to directing three lookbooks collections. I was able to demonstrate my make up abilities too!

Proficient with: Cision, Salesforce, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign & Coffee.

Dream Job

After countless internships and jobs I'm slowly beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, that is, my ultimate goal. I love helping other people and I have always had a knack for social media. I'd love to work at a social media and public relations consulting firm, where I can really show my creative abilities.

One of my biggest goals in life is to travel the world for a few years. Paris was my first stop.

Interior Decorating

I love interior decorating. Taking a space and finding its true potential.

A good book at a quant cafe cures everything.

Painting & Drawing

Once my fingers touched a pencil, I knew it was something I would always take with me.
