My educational background is diverse, and that may be a problem to some. However, I have had some amazing opportunities through my academic career at Salisbury University! One such opportunity was presenting a research paper at the annual Salisbury University Student Research Conference. That whole process from selecting an adviser to actually presenting the paper, taught me that persistence is key if you want to obtain your goals.
One class that has impacted my outlook on life would have to be an Economics class I took on Voluntary Exchange. In this class, we looked at the history and philosophy of the Free Market and how it operates. The first half of the class was the history and philosophy behind our current understanding of markets. The later half was an application of that knowledge in the energy field. It was this class that I found the term "create value". I read that in Charles Koch's book "The Science of Success". The whole point is that we as laborers and producers have the opportunity in a free society to create value for others. It is an amazing accomplishment to have people value your work and consider it worth their time and effort to join themselves to you, whether it be in employment, partnership, or just in a social setting. When the free market is allowed to do what it was designed to do, there is no limit to success for those who want to put the time in.
