Auxiliary Police Officer

to become an Auxiliary Police Officer I successfully completed the John H. Stambler Auxiliary Police Academy. I have been trained in, and qualified with the use of force laws, hand gun firearms, PR-24, and expandable baton. As an Auxiliary Police Officer I volunteer my time to serve my and other communities in the State of New Jersey. While I am working as an Auxiliary Officer I am given full police power just like any regular officer in the State of New Jersey. the Auxiliary police are activated when the township, county, or state feel that they need extra help during an event witch would involve law enforcement. During the times that the Auxiliary Police are not activated we are conducting training exercises where we refresh ourselves with the vast amount of equipment that is not normally available to the regular police department. This equipment applies but is not limited to; chainsaws, large trucks, boats, winches, light trailers, lighting fixed onto our vehicles, illumination devices used for traffic direction, and generators. The Auxiliary police also have scheduled nights where we formularize ourselves with our town and the regular police department vehicles and equipment. During this time we respond to calls and assist officers in the successful completion of there duties.
