When I quit my day job to go full-time freelance, I knew I didn't want to hop from contract to contract but instead curate an experience for myself on clients. That's why when my prospective development clients kept asking how I was making freelancing work - I decided to lean into that and use strategies I learned to help others build the creative businesses of their dreams.

Web Development Instructor + Alumni Engagement Coordinator

Teamwork makes the dream work is not just an empty phrase. When you work on a startup it's not strange to have all hand on deck moments. Or at least put your hands on a different deck then the one you were hired for! Here I've learned the value of MVP's and iterations all the while helping students build their dream careers.

Self Employed

Freelance Content Creator + Web Designer

Freelancing has been my side hustle since early 2014. It is where I discover my passions, figure out how to turn them into profits, and convince future employers and clients that I am the right person for their project. The journey began with business writing projects (think marketing, copywriting, and business projects) and now features responsive web design and development. I'm working on building an ecommerce site using only Frontend languages and transforming my side hustle to fulltime.

Certificate, Web Design

This three-month class was kind of phenomenal. I learned a ton of web design and even more web development skills. I discovered my dream career is to become a frontend developer and I am continuing to level up and achieve that goal.

Consolidated Facility Services

Communications Specialist

I worked at the headquarters of this small janitorial/construction company that supports between 30-50 employees and vendors. During my tenure, I handled employee relations, marketing, and supported executives. I learned to excel at multitasking and project management. I always have a project (or three) going so I am always pushing myself to the next level of greatness.

University of Miami

Master of Arts, International Studies

I decided to concentrate my studies on the Caribbean region so there was no reason for me to leave Miami. My thesis was on the politics of music censorship in Jamaica. I was able to spend six months in D.C. at a think tank delving deeper into the topic and finding parallels in American culture.

Council on Hemispheric Affairs

Office Manager + Editor

The most insightful internship that ever lived! The plan was to produce bi-weekly research articles commentating on current events in the Caribbean. Soon the plan turned into co-managing a staff of fellow intern writers, editing articles before final publication and coordinating media appearances for fellow interns. Hectic does not begin to describe. I loved the "go, go, go" atmosphere and the camaraderie developed as we grew more passionate about our niche. It is why I chase projects and products with passionate staff who make working towards goals exciting and achieving those goals second nature.

University of Miami

Bachelor of Arts, Creative Writing

Like so many bright-eyed freshmen, on day 1 I thought I was going to be a doctor. I'm not. And freshmen chemistry told me so. So I went back to what I knew, I started to write. I wrote a lot of flowery things, a lot of introspective things and a lot of things that helped me figure out I live to be a doer and an innovator.
