Hotel Management Intern - Rooms Division

Part of the Grand Reopening Team of the 1,193-room property in October 2011. Rooms Division Internship with a focus in Front Office. Rotation in different areas within the department, Front Desk, PBX, Night Audit and Rooms Control, carrying out several duties, including the following:
-Hotel's first Night Auditor at grand reopening, collaborating on streamlining and testing the current standard Night Audit operations and procedures, as well as training coworkers on the role.
-Being responsible for pre-blockings, pre-registration, monitoring, check-in and occasionally escort for special requests, VIP guests and other designated guests, as well as general rooming operations.
-Reviewing, processing, posting and settling of billing. Currency exchange and cash handling.
-Coordination of medium and large group / convention arrivals, working closely with meeting planners, Catering, Convention Services and Sales personnel.
-Keeping accuracy on rates, availability and room status.
-Maintaining exceptional contact and coordination with other departments in the hotel.
-Providing assistance, direction and support to front line staff, serving as departamental role model and ensuring that Hyatt policies, procedures and standards are met at all times.
-Resolving and following up on guest issues in the absence of a manager on duty showing a positive, professional attitude and a high level of customer service and efficiency.
-Recognized as Employee of the Month in January 2012 by senior management.
