Electrical Qualified Supervisor

At EPS I started out as an Electrician, working within a team environment. The majority of our work is domestic from re wires to housing estates. We also do a fair amount of commerical works from retail shops, nursing homes, Fire stations etc.

Our work in the commercial sector has gained me some valuable experience in Fire alarm systems, gas shut off valves and door entry systems, the majority of this work has been conducted at Lincolnshire fire Head Quarters.

Once again I quickly climbed the ladder at EPS, I got promted to electrical supervisor and was overseeing 12 other electricians. As i was still only young it was fairly daunting looking after and advising 12 other electricians, but i soon gained good communication skills and realised that people are different and some reacted well to praise and some well to criticsm. I learnt how to motivate all members of my team and knew exactly the right thing to say to the individual to get the best out of them.

As electrical supervisor i took on numerous contracts here are some listed below;
-Blocks of apartments one with 21 flats, one with 18 flats and one with 11 flats, Housing estate of 17, a £1.6million house, £1.2 million pound house. I also do all photo voltaic work, including solar panels and solar thermal.

Within the apartment contracts as listed above as well as wiring all power to each flats we also wired the communication cables and safety circuited e.g fire alarms and burglar alarms and door entry. Using cat5, cat6, 4 pair and 5 pair cables and coaxial cable. We thoroughly ensures these cables were segregated from the power cables to avoid any magnetic interference etc.

I have recently (6 months) been promoted to Electrical Qualified Supervisor. In this job role i have to visit all the jobs that are ongoing and inspect that our work is up to the correct standard. I then have to test and commission each job and 'sign it off' to the local governing body the NICEIC . I am currently overlooking a housing development of 44 houses and a public house which is being converted into student accommodation.

As well as all the major jobs that i have to inspect there are also numerous minor jobs that requiring testing and inspecting from consumer unit changes to earthing upgrades.

I am currently still employed by EPS, however I feel that while I am still fairly young it is an ideal time to challenge myself and push my knowledge to the limits. I am very enthusiastic, a fast learner and always willing to try new things within the electrical industry.

Innovation Electrical Ltd

Innovation Electrical is where I started my Electrical journey.
The main projects at innovation was wiring, testing and commissioning portable buildings. We used all different types of wiring systems; from steel conduit, steel trunking, PVC/PVC cables and SWA cables.

I started off being supervised as was only an apprentice, but quickly proved that i was capable of working and supervising others. I had to meet crucial dead lines and learnt how to work very well under pressure and to get the best out of my team.

After showing my werth at innovation, they handed me a massive responsibillity of overseeing a £1million pound contract, it was too install SWA cables, cable tray, steel conduit and cable ladders in a modular building, and to commission it. I also became very familiar with CCTV, door entry systems, gas shut off switches, fire alarm systems, burglar alarms and smoke vent relay switching. The modular building was purpose built for a petrol plant based in egypt. This contract made me realise the different styles of electrical systems for each climate. After this job was a huge success I started to look after new electricians and when I finished my college course I had an apprentice,this has taught me to be able to interact and teach people that are less familiar with such systems as my self.

At innovation work started to decline and they eventually went into liquidation hencse moving on to my next employment.
