Simon & Schuster

Marketing & Publishing Assistant, Touchstone imprint

I keep Touchstone's engine running. I act as go-between for the marketing, editorial, and managing ed departments, assist the Associate Publisher and the Senior Marketing Manager, and run the Instagram account. It's part marketing, part editorial, and part administrative, and it's a new project every day.

“Fear of making mistakes can itself become a huge mistake, one that prevents you from living, for life is risky and anything less is already a loss.” ― Rebecca Solnit

Thirty Two magazine

Publishing Assistant

I started working with Thirty Two, a print arts and culture magazine of the midwest, during my senior year of college. I learned how much work it takes to get a project like this off the ground—and how rewarding it is to see the finished product. Under the fabulous editorial direction of Katie Eggers, I published writing I'm still proud of today (see PDFs on my website).

University of Minnesota

Bachelor of Arts, English literature

I studied English literature with a minor concentration in mass media studies. So in addition to reading Moby Dick and Wuthering Heights, I was studying mass media law, longform journalism strategies, and the effects of new media on culture (big takeaway: balance Twitter with books, screens with walks in the sunshine).
