University of Winnipeg

University of Winnipeg Health and Wellness Peer Educator

During my time as a student at the University of Winnipeg I was a member of the Health and Wellness Peer Educators. The objective of this organization was to develop events and materials that raise awareness of health and wellness on campus. This included countless hours of preparation for the school year such as becoming safeTALK certified, as well as participating in the Sexual Assault Crisis Program put on by Klinic Community Health Centre.

In this volunteer position I was responsible for any and all social media involved on campus that included Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. This required multitasking all events we put on at the university as well as promotional work within the student body.

I was also the creator and director of the Safe Sex and Safe Partying campaigns the Health and Wellness Peer Educators promoted on the University of Winnipeg campus. I assumed the role of the leader in this campaign and delegated multiple tasks to other volunteers, as well as promotional work within our social media outlet. For this campaign we paired with Klinic Community Health Centre in using interactive games to understand the importance of safe sex and safe partying.

Moreover it was the responsibility of the Health and Wellness Peer Educators to expand and coordinate events such as Thrive and Body Awareness week in order to encourage all 7 dimensions of wellness in the campus community. For this our group worked endlessly to create meditation, stress relief, and fitness classes to the campus community in order to promote wellness on campus.
