Chelsea Bullock

UX Designer

I am a user advocate, a curious and transparent collaborator, and a solutions-driven designer. I believe in function-first designs that clarify and delight. Will work for dry ros├ęs, tacos, and happy houseplants.

UX Design Contractor

My background as a PhD with experience in research, collaboration, iteration, and deep analytical processes shapes my approach to User Experience Design. I work for the moments when a user sighs with relief, laughs with satisfaction, or bubbles with enthusiasm over a new tool or improved workflow that is, quite simply, life-changing.

Georgia Institute of Technology

Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow

At Georgia Tech, I've taught over 200 students how to become more effective communicators, critically analyze ideologies through television, and historically contextualize popular culture.

Tech inspires me to combine my analytical, academic side with my creative, strategic side and explore professional possibilities beyond the ivory tower.

Volunteer: Atlanta Film Festival (2015)

As a theater captain, I helped manage the enthusiastic crowds, facilitate volunteers' schedules, and assist cast, crew, and producers in celebrating their films at the festival.

University of Oregon

PhD, English and Media Studies

My studies at UO focused on television, film, feminist theory, and other critical theories of media and culture. My dissertation argues that a specific kind of reality television programming emerged as a response to The Great Recession. Those shows work to help viewers articulate and frame the everyday consequences of the recession.

Center for the Study of Women in Society, University of Oregon

Graduate Research Fellow

I offered research and administrative support to groups of scholars across campus. My work ranged from investigating potential grants to fund a writers' workshop, identifying relevant speakers for a series, locating copyright-open images and communicating with copyright holders, and cooperating with libraries regarding documents, event programming, and purchasing materials.

University of Oregon

Graduate Teaching Fellow

In the English and Cinema Studies departments, I taught classes in college writing, history of film, and television studies. I learned how to structure a university class, devise engaging assignments, and lead productive discussions.
