Play Magnus AS

Working with the World Chess Champion to help make the world a smarter place - one game at a time.

Play Magnus AS

I'm the CEO of Play Magnus - the company behind the World Champion of Chess. Our goal is bringing chess to the world to make it a smarter place. For the past two years I have been working with a great team to build a global brand. We started with an app and chess sets and now we're moving into an ecosystem. We've been sponsored by companies like GE, SAS and G-Star Raw.

Chess player, I am not, but what I am is chess-passionate. Why? Because I'm motivated by bringing more good into this world. After gaining an understanding of the positive impact chess has on youth and the way they think, I would chalk chess up to be an extremely valuable tool when it comes to learning how to solve problems, think critically and improve concentration.

Loves of My Life

Nutritious Food

I'm a health-food nut and can't get enough!

Travel Bug

I'm in love with this earth and exploring it.

The Genius that is Magnus Carlsen

Magnus took on (blindfolded) 3 players, at the same time, and was given 3 minutes per game. Amazing!

iDance Convention

Co-Founder & Director

Following my BBA and after working with a brilliant family involved in the dance industry, I co-founded iDance Convention with my business partner. Together we built Canada's only national convention touring coast to coast with the dancers from the hit TV show, So You Think You Can Dance? We did this together for 4 years, before I moved to Europe and he continued the journey.

Your Path

I'm a firm believer that we are conscious beings making choices of free will, but there is an element of alignment. That is, you are where you are supposed to be, learning a lesson you need.

Queen's School of Business

My MBA experience was growth in all levels - but most importantly filled with life-long connections. I studied broadly in business and then spent a few months in Paris on exchange at ESSEC focusing on Luxury Brand Management. It was here when I started thinking seriously about moving my career from Canada to Europe.

UK Trade & Investment + The British Foreign & Commonwealth Office

Trade & Investment Associate to Olympics Coordinator

At the same time I started up iDance, I was also getting my hands into full-time work with the British Foreign office and UKTI. I started with a focus on the Green Economy - helping British businesses find ways to work with Canadian industry in the environment sector. I was then given the opportunity to manage the British delegation for the Olympics - different, but brilliant.

Simon Fraser University

Bachelors of Business Admin (HON), Marketing & International Business

I started out in literature and made my way over to Business Administration by my second year. Why? Well, I had this entrepreneurial spirit (despite still loving Chaucer). My entrepreneurial dreams won out and I started my journey into the business world, academically speaking. I spent my last semester on exchange in Grenoble, France and thus began a love affair with Europe.
