educator. mentor. creator.

Unapologetic and authentic. Education and mentorship are key, and writing and authenticity are life. I try to infuse all of that into my work as a high school teacher, as well as into each story that I share on my blog about black women and mental wellness, on the LEAUX.

Warren High School

English Teacher

As a teacher, I drop grammar gems and life lessons on a daily basis. My strength as an educator lies in building relationships with my students; students rarely learn from someone with whom they have no connection. I am also liable to remix songs from "Hamilton" in order to rap about Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar". Yes, it is just as crazy and awesome as it sounds.

University of Arkansas

B.A. in Journalism, emphasis in Advertising & Public Relations

The University of Arkansas is where I first fell in love with mentorship. While I enjoyed my major classes in the Walter J. Lemke Journalism Department, I adored my involvement with various organizations and opportunities through the Division of Student Affairs and the Multicultural Center. This led me to later pursue a Master's of Education in Higher Education from UA. Although I did not finish that degree, what I learned in graduate school both through coursework and through working with volunteer and mentoring programs is that my passion lies in education and mentorship, and I continue to cultivate that passion as a high school teacher.
